  8. tcpdl is a program which downloads files from a http host.
  9. It can follow links (across sites if required), and can be
  10. configured to to ignore certain file types.
  11.  
  12. It makes full use of AmigaDOS multi-tasking, and can
  13. download up to 15 files at a time. A status window reports
  14. current activity.
  15.  
  16. tcpdl 2.4a includes the following changes from the previous
  17. Aminet version:
  18.  
  19. - fixed a bug that caused non-text files to be downloaded even
  20.   when the previously downloaded version was still current.
  21.  
  22. - reworked the code that deals with the http transfer. This should
  23.   make the code more tolerant of strange replies from the server,
  24.   and has paved the way for further improvements in the future.
  25.  
  26. - changed behaviour when URLs containing characters that are invalid
  27.   in AmigaDOS file names are encountered. 
  28.  
  29. - changed behaviour when filenames are longer than allowed by the
  30.   filesystem being used. Filenames are now simply truncated at 
  31.   the maximum supported length (30 characters for FFS). The full
  32.   URL without truncation will appear in HTML references.
  33.  
  34. - added the NOSAVE command line option. When specified this 
  35.   prevents any downloaded files from being saved.
  36.  
  37. - added the DEBUG command line option.

  39. - added new status messages

  41. - previously, some temporary file were written to t:, which could 
  42.   cause problems in low memory situations. All files are now 
  43.   written to tcpdldir: so the user has control of the location
  44.   of all files generated (even temporarily) by tcpdl.

  46. - corrected display of current and total file sizes. Previously
  47.   these were displayed only intermittently.

  49. - corrected minor bug in the status display which caused columns
  50.   not to be correctly aligned

  52. - reduced memory usage slightly

  54. - corrected a bug that could leave some files locked if an error
  55.   occured during a download

  57. tcpdlpp is a post processor for html files downloaded by
  58. tcpdl, which converts all links to those files downloaded
  59. to relative URLs. Links to files that have not been
  60. downloaded are made to explicitly refer to the site where
  61. they can be found.
  62.  
  63. tcpdlpp provides a summary of the number of occurances of
  64. every link found, for both downloaded files and remote URLs.
  65.  
  66. Using these programs together allows you to make a local
  67. copy of selected sites, which can then be browsed off-line.
  68. Links to files that have not been downloaded can be followed
  69. when you are on-line.
